DESIGN INTENT
Envisioned as a transit-oriented, mixed-use community, Palermo Village will be a unique destination with a mix of housing types and densities, heritage building preservation, large and small-format urban retail, office employment, parks and recreational facilities for active and passive uses, natural heritage features and extensive trail and cycling networks. Situated in Oakville, Ontario, north of Dundas Street along Bronte Road, Palermo Village is positioned to become a regional destination by offering a variety of amenities and features with direct access to Highway 407 and directly supported by two proposed regional transit terminals/stations (407 Transitway BRT Station and Palermo Transit Terminal).
NAK Design Strategies urban design services for Palermo Village included the development of a community framework plan and master plan and vision strategy that analyzed community structure, integrated land uses, placemaking, public realm, active transportation, built form and massing, sustainability initiatives, and forward-thinking principles.
