Design Intent
Located at the Preserve at Dundas St & Bronte Rd in Oakville, Bower Condominiums is NAK Design Strategies’ contribution to Oakville’s development of increasing contemporary housing opportunities. While this area is more commonly known for developing single-family style homes, Oakville is branching out to create more housing options to reflect the needs of their diversifying population. While working with the city of Oakville, NAK has provided our landscape architectural services, which includes conceptual design through to contract administration.
Bower Condominiums is located in Oakville’s waterfront area, which provides a scenic backdrop and access to natural elements for residents. This residential area provides a pocket away from the city with a network of friendly pedestrian paths and a central courtyard for residents to commune in. The residential courtyard is designed to replicate the shapes and lines found in nature, in order to contrast the sharp elements of the Condos’ architectural style. The organic design element of the plant beds takes inspiration from riverbeds and are reminiscent of water flowing around rocks in a stream. Similar to how water meanders in a stream, pedestrians will organically flow throughout the space and integrate with the natural elements.
