1.1 GENERAL
NAK is vitally committed to measures which demonstrate our respect for and adherence to the prevention, reduction and mitigation of negative environmental and social impacts, and the fostering of sustainable processes and products which best serve our clients and society at large. Our duty to clients, employees and society in this regard is demonstrated through our provision of products and services rendered in an ethical and sustainability-conscious manner. Our employees will receive information, training and competent supervision as it relates to sustainable ways of operating, designing and planning.
1.2 ENERGY & CARBON
NAK will use and specify products that demonstrate sustainable practices and reduce the use of energy wherever and whenever possible.
1.3 WATER
NAK’s planning and designs will encourage the reduction and/or repurposing of wastewater where possible.
1.4 CONSTRUCTION & REFURBISHMENT
Operations and services which involve new buildings and refurbishment projects will comply with relevant building regulations, and wherever possible, are compatible with sustainability principles and best practices such as LEED, Green Globes, and WELL.
1.5 TRAVEL
Use of public transportation and other forms of sustainable travel is encouraged wherever possible, as well as reduction of unnecessary travel by alternatively utilizing instant messaging, virtual conferencing and meeting platforms.
1.6 ENGAGEMENT & EDUCATION
NAK will continue to create awareness campaigns and engage staff in new initiatives to help reduce our carbon footprint.
1.7 WASTE MANAGEMENT
‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover’ will be the core operating principles for all employees, wherever possible. The following will be applied in everyday office operations as well as with respect to client engagement wherever possible:
- Recycle as much waste material as possible.
- Avoid the use of paper wherever possible. (send invoices via email vs. courier/post)
- All contract administration work is paperless and processed digitally
- Recycle equipment that is no longer useful to the company. (eg donate older computers)
- Keep energy usage low. (Low energy lights and turning off lights after work)
- Leverage technology for better paper use when possible. (Use both sides of paper)
- Purchase products made with recycled paper. (paper towels, printer paper)
- Purchase products with a lower environmental impact. (environmentally safe soaps and detergents)
- Use low impact transport for travel to and from work and business travel. (Train, bus, carpool)
- Use of courier services via online to reduce carbon footprint
1.8 SUSTAINABILITY REPORT
The management of NAK will conduct an annual Sustainability review by the end of Q4 in each calendar year in order to assess the efficacy with which the Policy is being applied.
