Accessibility Plan and Policies for NAK Design Strategies Inc. (“NAK”)

This accessibility plan outlines the policies and actions that NAK has and will put in place to improve opportunities for people with disabilities.

Statement of Commitment
NAK is committed to providing services to our clients and is committed to our staff that we are free of barriers and biases. NAK strives to ensure that key principals of independence, dignity, integration and equality of opportunity are reflected and valued in our working environment. We are committed to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities in a timely manner and by removing barriers to accessibility under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

Accessible Emergency Plans
NAK will provide employees with disabilities individualized emergency response information and plans, if considered necessary.

Training
NAK has and will continue to provide training to its employees on Ontario’s accessibility laws and on the Human Rights Code as it relates to people with disabilities. Training is provided in a way that best suits the duties of employees.

Information and Communications
NAK is committed to meeting the communication needs of people with disabilities. We will consult with people with disabilities to determine their information and communication needs and use reasonable steps to meet the needs of people with disabilities.

Employment
NAK is committed to fair and equitable employment practices. We have taken the following steps to notify the public and our employees, that when requested, NAK will accommodate people with disabilities during the recruitment and assessment processes.

  • Job postings incorporate accommodation language.
  • All candidates are notified in advance of an interview of the policies and reasonable requests for accommodation will be made available.

NAK ensures the needs of employees with disabilities are taken into account in performance management and career development. NAK will take reasonable steps to prevent and remove accessibility barriers identified and provide job accommodations that take into account the employee’s accessibility needs. NAK offers individual accommodation plans to employees as well as a formal and documented return to work program.

Accessible Client Services to People with Disabilities Policy

NAK is committed to excellence in serving our clients including people with disabilities.

Assistive devices
NAK will welcome people with disabilities and accommodate assistive devices that may be used by clients with disabilities in accessing our services.

Communication
NAK will communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take into account their disability.

Service animals and support persons
We welcome people with disabilities and their service animals and support persons. Services animals and support persons will be allowed to accompany people with disabilities while visiting our premises.

Training
We provide training to our employees on Ontario’s accessibility laws and on the Human Rights Code as it relates to people with disabilities.

Notice of Temporary Disruption
In the event of a planned or unexpected disruption of services or facilities, such as access to our offices, we will notify clients promptly of any such planned or unexpected disruption by email and/or through a posting on the website as well as a notice posted on the entrance of our offices. Such notice will set out the reason for the disruption, its anticipated duration, a description of any alternative services, and any steps NAK will take relating to the disruption.

Feedback process
We welcome feedback on the way NAK provides services to clients with disabilities. Clients who wish to provide feedback can call our office at 416-340-8700 or send an email to info@nak-design.com. Feedback will be responded to and addressed within 2 business days.

Modifications to this or other policies
Any policy of NAK that does not respect and promote dignity and independence of people with disabilities will be modified or removed.

Accessibility of Documents
This Policy and all other documents required by the AODA pertaining to our policies, practices and procedures on the provision of services to persons with disabilities, can also be obtained by contacting our office administrator. Upon request, reasonable effort will be made to provide these documents to clients with disabilities in a format that takes into account the person’s disability.
